As I was going through some old photos from my Google Photos, I came across the above image. It took me some time to realize the function in relation to which this photo was taken.
Hailing from a traditional South Indian family, we are accustomed to conducting poojas for various functions, whether they are social events like marriage, engagement, or socio-religious ones such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Vara(maha)lakshmi, Dassera, etc. For all these poojas, Ganesh Vandana or Ganesh pooja is mandatory and marks the beginning of such ceremonies.
In the traditional South Indian Brahmin system, Ganeshji is symbolized in the form of a pyramid made from turmeric powder, commonly referred to as Manjal Pillayar. I must have made over 100 such pyramid-shaped Manjal Pillayar since my school days. The pyramid structure has fascinated me since then, and we gradually started incorporating the pyramid shape into other aspects of our life.
Professionally, my brother and I chose to be self-employed. In our careers, we ventured into the exciting field of accounts, taxation, insurance, and related activities. Ten years ago, when we were setting up a new firm, incorporating the word "Pyramid" came naturally. It is no coincidence that my blog’s url is pyramidconsulting.blogspot.com. As I was contemplating the next topic for my blog, the thought struck me – why not write about pyramids? So here we go.
People have used this simple but amazing shape in buildings, art, and managing organizations. It shows how humans want to make and do great things. Its beauty comes from being simple, efficient, and having meaning.
